Undergraduates
We are always looking for work study students and volunteers who are
interested in helping out in the lab and learning about environmental
microbiology, water treatment and emerging contaminants. I
periodically have paid positions available, as well, for exceptional
students. Additionally, exceptional students will find a variety of
opportunities for a fully funded lab experience through various internship programs,
including the Pete
and Rosalie Johnson Internship Program. If interested,
students should send an email to Professor Radniecki at
tyler.radniecki@oregonstate.edu.
Graduate
students
Bright, creative and motivated students interested in understanding the
interactions of microorganisms in engineered systems and the potential
impacts of emerging contaminants on water treatment processes and aquatic
ecosystem health are encouraged to talk with me. information about our
current projects will tell you more about ongoing work, but our lab is
willing and able to expand into new territory if the questions are
compelling.
The choice to pursue an advanced degree is extremely important.
Finding an area of research that you are passionate about it key and will
help motivate you during the sometimes long hours in the lab/field.
Coursework will teach you fundamentals of the subject, however, the vast
majority of you graduate education comes through active research. This
is why the choice of an adviser is extremely important. I encourage
you to research potential advisers carefully both in terms of interests and
personality. For this reason, I expect each prospective student to
visit with multiple faculty members, including myself, to discuss research
interests and possibilities.
Funding for your graduate education is typically a combination of teaching
and research assistantships. If you are interested in working with me,
please send me an email (tyler.radniecki@oregonstate.edu)
with the following information:
1) a detailed statement of why you want to attend graduate school,
your research interests and why my lab is potentially a good fit for you;
2) your resume or CV and
3) an unofficial copy of your
transcripts.
Please feel free to email me with your questions or to learn more about my
research interests, the School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental
Engineering or Oregon State University.
