Research Interests

Primarily involved with experimental studies of fundamental issues of turbulent flows, enhancement of transport properties by complex flow structures. Applications of this work include (i) high heat flux micro-electronic cooling, (ii) micro-scale fluid flow systems for biological and chemical reactors and ink-jet printing, (iii) shear and temperature measurements using liquid crystals.

Dr. Popescu is the initiator of MICROS discussion group, focused on micro- and nano-scale hydraulic and thermal issues.
