RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN MACHINE LEARNING

Applications are invited for a RESEARCH FELLOW position in the
Clinical Decision Systems Group of the Medical Informatics Program at
the National University of Singapore (NUS). The position is tenable at
the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing.
The Medical Informatics Program is a multi-disciplinary research
initiative involving participation from various Faculties and Research
Centers at NUS, as well as local and international institutions and
hospitals. The Program aims to undertake basic and applied R&D, and to
establish a foundation for a center of excellence in medical
informatics in Singapore and the Asian-Pacific region.
Current research focus of the Clinical Decision Systems Group includes
the following areas:
* Automated decision making over time and under uncertainty
* Machine learning from large medical databases
* Intelligent trend detection and prediction
* Knowledge acquisition from multiple knowledge sources
* Time-critical dynamic decision modeling
The appointee is expected to conduct independent research related to
and co-ordinate the on-going machine learning/data analysis projects.
Candidates for the position should have a Ph.D. in computer science or
related disciplines. Strong background in machine learning, knowledge
acquisition, probabilistic reasoning, decision theory, and statistics
required. Background in database, network computing, and medical
informatics desirable.
The appointment is for one year in the first instance, with
renewal possibilities.
Gross monthly emoluments are as follow (S$1.7 = US$1)
Research Fellow - S$3270 to S$6190
The commencing salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications,
experience and level of appointment. Leave and medical benefits will
