Management Science & Technology at the Assitant Professor level. Details of

POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: School of Business
TITLE: Assistant Professor
FTE: Full time, tenure-eligible position

DUTIES:
The candidate should be capable of teaching Management Science & Technology
courses in the undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. Good teaching,
research leading to publication, conceptual and methodological rigor, and
service to the School and institution are expected.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completion by August 1999 of a Ph.D., D.B.A., or other doctoral degree
in Management Science or an allied science such as Decision Sciences,
Information Technology, Statistics, etc., or the anticipated completion of
the doctorate in 1999-2000.
2. Ability and willingness to teach BUS 477 Management Science and
Operations Management, a required undergraduate course that covers
Quantitative modeling skills and some topics in Operations Management. Will
be expected to teach at least two sections of this course per academic year;
3. Demonstrated ability to do and disseminate research:
4. Ability and willingness to teach quantitative courses and do research in
decision sciences and advanced technologies (such as expert systems,
influence diagrams, knowledge discovery and data mining, artificial neural
networks, structural equations modeling, genetic algorithms, Markov chain
Monte Carlo methods, fuzzy decision theory, etc.) at all levels-
undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. An earned doctorate degree.
2. Ability and willingness to teach courses in probability and statistics
at all levels, especially the undergraduate and MBA programs;
3. Ability and willingness to teach courses in production and operations
management in the undergraduate and MBA programs;
4. A demonstrated record of performance in teaching and research.

APPOINTMENTS:
Appointments will be for nine months, starting mid-August, 1999 or as soon
thereafter as possible. Position is tenure-eligible, following AAUP
guidelines. Visiting positions (term appointments) may be considered.

SALARY:
Salary is competitive and dependent on the experience and qualifications of
the candidate.
