JOB OPPORTUNITY AT IBM RESEARCH: APPLICATION OF LEARNING/DATA MINING TO
MANAGEMENT OF DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS

The performance management group at IBM TJ Watson Research Center is
looking for individuals with strong research qualifications in data mining
and/or machine learning for a post doctoral position with a possibility for
permanent employment.

We are seeking someone to join our efforts to automate performance
management of distributed systems. This encompasses detecting, diagnosing,
and acting on availability and performance problems. We are exploring the
application of learning/data mining techniques to several of these tasks,
including: (a) identifying patterns that are leading indicators of
failures; (b) discovering abstraction hierarchies that characterize problem
causes; and (c) visualizing patterns to aid administrators in labeling
problem situations.

Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related
discipline. Programming expertise and knowledge of machine learning, data
mining or
statistics are also required. Knowledge of computer networks and
distributed systems is extremely helpful.

Please apply through the IBM Research employment web site
(http://domino.watson.ibm.com/hr/research/resumes.nsf/Employment/Job+Listin
gs?OpenDocument)
for the job listing entitled: "Performance Management -
Research Staff Members - Programmers."

For more information about our group and the projects in our group, please
look at the attached HTML files.
