RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN BIOMEDICAL DECISION ENGINEERING,
    NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE

Applications are invited for a few RESEARCH FELLOW positions in the
area of Intelligent Prognostic Analysis in Medicine at the National
University of Singapore (NUS). The position is tenable at the
Department of Computer Science, School of Computing, National
    University of Singapore.

The Intelligent Prognostic Analysis in Medicine Project is
multi-disciplinary research initiative involving participations from
various Faculties at NUS together with international institutions and
hospitals, and is supported by a strategic research grant from the
National Science & Technology Board and the Academic Research Fund.

The Project aims to develop a set of advanced decision engineering
techniques to support effective prognostic analysis in medicine; the
resulting techniques will be incorporated into a set of prototype
applications that automate clinical guideline generation in
significant and time-critical health care and biopharmaceutical
domains. Current research foci of the group includes

    1. Representation and analysis of prognostic models in medicine,
including integration of genomic and phenotypic information.

    2. Time-critical reasoning and decision making in medicine.

    3. Generation and maintenance of clinical practice guidelines from
       multi-site and multi-tier information sources.

Participants in this Project include computer scientists, engineers,
biologists, and medical doctors at NUS, National University Hospital,
National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore, Johns Hopkins Hospital,
USA, and other academic and industrial collaborators.

Candidates for the positions should have a Ph.D. in computer science
or related disciplines. Strong background in probabilistic reasoning,
artificial intelligence, decision theory, and statistics is
required. Experience in biomedical informatics, machine learning,
database, and network computing is desirable. The appointments are
initially tenable for one year and are renewable. The appointees will
participate in one or more on-going tracks within the Project.
