*** Postdoctoral Research Associate/Visiting Assistant Professor ***
in
STATISTICS & GENETICS
at
Duke University

To begin in July 1999, or as soon as possible thereafter, with an
initial two year term. Research will focus on development of novel
methods of statistics and data mining for the analysis of large scale
genetic expression arrays arising in cancer genetics and related
areas. The project represents challenging interdisciplinary research
and development at the interfaces of statistical science, computation
and biotechnology. The appointee will work with a team of Duke faculty
researchers from the Institute of Statistics and Decision Sciences,
the Department of Genetics, the Cancer Center, and other groups in
Duke Medical School.

Suitable applicants will have a PhD in statistics or a related
discipline
(e.g., computer science with a strong statistical component), and
interests
in biomedical research. We particularly seek applicants with interests
and
experience in computational statistics and data analysis in complex,
large
scale problems in interdisciplinary research collaborations. Prior
experience
in genetics is not required, though suitable applicants will be
motivated
towards developing as researchers in genomics as a broad research area.

Salary and benefits will be very competitive.

Applications from suitably qualified women and minority candidates are
particularly encouraged. Duke University is an Equal
Opportunity/Affirmative
Action Employer.
