Spreadsheets are among the most used software packages. Spreadsheets are used in many different application areas by many people, most of whom are not professional programmers or computer scientists. Numerous studies have shown that existing spreadsheets contain errors at an alarmingly high rate. Therefore, knowledge about the use and users of spreadsheets as well as tools and techniques that can improve the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets are in great demand.

This workshop is concerned with all aspects that affect the effective use of spreadsheet systems. We are looking for papers that help to identify ways to improve the current unsatisfactory situation of spreadsheet programming.

This workshop is to be held in conjunction with the IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC'04), which is to take place in Rome, Italy from September 26-29, 2004.
