NON-ACADEMIC POSITIONS

 

      Harris Corporation, Melbourne, FL, June 1980-July 1981.  Developed and validated mathematical models of large antenna structures used in satellite communications applications. Sized the drive systems of such structures.  Designed the electronic circuitry and the automatic control laws to track satellites at SHF and EHF frequencies.  Designed all-digital receivers for frequency-hopped spread spectrum communications systems.  Performed statistical analysis to evaluate the performance of satellite communications protocols.

      Boeing Company, Seattle, WA, August 1981-August 1982.  Developed a large software package to analyze and design all-digital flight control systems for both commercial and high performance military aircraft using advanced optimal control techniques.  Designed prototype of an all-digital high-performance aircraft autopilot for terrain avoidance-terrain following, utilizing optimal discrete-time linear tracking theory.

      Harris Corporation, Melbourne, FL, September 1982-June 1986.  Designed direct sequence spread spectrum satellite communications systems.  Performed mathematical modeling, analysis and design of control systems of satellite tracking antennas.  Analyzed the effects of frequency hopping on satellite tracking performance of antenna control systems.  Analyzed frequency and time tracking loops with low sampling rates.  Technical task leader of the design of the A-109/ARTI (Advanced Rotorcraft Technology Integration) helicopter autopilot.  Designed the algorithms and software of several elevation data compression algorithms used in the Harris digital map.  Designed smoothing algorithms for two-dimensional digital terrain images.

      Tektronix, Inc., Beaverton, OR, June 2000-August 2000.  Designed carrier acquisition system of GSM and EDGE bursty signals.
