“Geomatics is the discipline of gathering, storing, processing, analyzing, and delivering of geographic information, or spatially referenced information" -adapted from Wikipedia

Welcome to the new home of the Oregon State University Geomatics Program and the research lab for Professor Michael Olsen. We are currently in the process of completing the re-design of this website and appreciate your patience while we get everything sorted out and up and running.

Here you may find information on our current and past research activities. We will also post information on our publications and presenations. There will be a section for photographs and video demonstrations of our activities. We will also try to provide information on the equipment utilized and information and advances for the field of geomatics as a whole.

OSU Partners with Leica Geosystems and David Evans and Associates, Inc.

In 2009, OSU entered into a three-way partnership with DEA and Leica in an effort to expand the number of geospatial professionals. As a result of this agreement, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of state-of-the-art surveying equipment is available to OSU's Civil Engineering students. This partnership aims to provide graduates with better training as the field evolves from traditional surveying into the broader field of Geomatics, encompassing 3D data flow, laser scanning and other remote sensing techniques, and data processing.
