More Details
- IEEE membership categories include Student, Associate, Affiliate,
Member, Society, Senior Member, and Fellow. (Fellows must be nominated.)
- IEEE member sponsors are no longer required for some membership categories.
- Students (with a courseload of at least 6 credits/term) from some
IEEE Student Branches may now join IEEE using an on-line Web form.
- Students whose IEEE student branches do not use the on-line form must
contact their IEEE student branch at their university and fill out an
application. (The Student Branch submits the application for them.)
- Reduced membership fees are available for new graduates, low-income,
unemployed, and retired engineers. Contact IEEE Member Services for details.
If you do not have Web access, have trouble downloading the application
forms, or just prefer to do everything in hardcopy:
1. Obtain an application:
- Send email to member.services@ieee.org
requesting the hardcopy form.
- If you are not on the internet, call 1-732-981-0060 or (in the USA)
tollfree 1-800-678-IEEE, or write to IEEE/CSS, 445 Hoes Lane, P.O. Box 1331,
Piscataway, NJ, 08855-1331 USA, for the membership application.
Include your name, organization, phone number, fax number, and address.
Mention whether or not you are a student.
2. Fill out the membership application form.
- You must list Control System Society and/or the specific publications
you wish to receive.
3. Send your completed application, with payment, to IEEE (not
to me).

Publications
You should be able to find past Control Systems Society publications
in your university library if it subscribes to the IEEE journal package.
You can also contact IEEE directly to buy past publications, see IEEE Bookstore Order Information.
Your IEEE membership will entitle you to subscribe to publications at
below the publication cost since the Control Systems Society subsidizes
publications for members using income from other activities. Be sure to
order your publications when joining IEEE or the Control Systems Society.
Our journals are available on-line for those who subscribe.
(CSS membership entitles you free to the Control Systems Magazine.)
For more information about our publications, check out the
IEEE CSS Web Site.
