This one-day workshop aims to bring together academic researchers from the
fields of engineering, computer vision and artificial intelligence with
industrial developers working in the field of visual surveillance. There is
a great diversity of scientific problems that must be solved including
reliable image capture and detection, efficient use of communications
bandwidth, knowledge acquisition and classification, intelligent storage and
querying, as well as intelligent interfaces. Applications for this
technology include transport safety, security of public space, crime
prevention and commercial analysis. Moreover, some projects are designed to
deliver an increase in operator efficiency, while others are expected to
operate autonomously. Papers are particularly welcomed in the following
areas:
Detection and tracking of pedestrians and vehicles
Recognition of specific and generic objects
Modelling and recognition of actions, gestures and behaviour
Coding for low bandwidth systems
Fusion of data from multiple sensors
Database storage and retrieval of surveillance data
System training and learning
Context-based video retrieval
