    Two Faculty Positions - Computational Biomedicine
    The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
    The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSCH) is a
    premier urban health research university of 4690 faculty and staff serving
    3,170 students, 594 residents, and 200 fellows. UTHSCH consists of Schools
    of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health, Graduate Biomedical
    Sciences, Allied Health, and an Institute of Molecular Medicine, Psychiatric
    Hospital and Recovery Campus. UTHSCH is in the world-renowned Texas Medical
    Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city
    in the United States. The Health Informatics Department currently offers
    Masters and Ph.D. degrees.
    Professor in Area of Computational Biomedicine
    RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to sustain a
    funded, active and productive research program and to develop courses and
    teach at the doctoral level in the candidate's area of expertise within
    computational biomedicine. Collaborative research with other faculty in the
    department and across UTHSCH and TMC is expected.
    QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a doctorate degree with a background
    in one of the biomedical disciplines in which there is a major emphasis on
    computation from the applied or basic science perspectives. Experience in
    computational aspects of neuroscience, genomics, biomedical engineering or a
    related discipline is important. A record of extramurally funded research
    and of significant, refereed publications over the past five years is also
    important. Experience in teaching and mentoring in doctoral educational
    programs is necessary.
    Assistant/Associate Professor in Area of Computational Biomedicine
     RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a
    funded, active and productive research program and to teach in the
    candidate's area of computational biomedicine. Collaborative research with
    other faculty in the department and across the UTHSCH and TMC is emphasized.
    QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a doctorate degree with a background
    in one of the biomedical disciplines in which there is a major emphasis on
    computation from the applied or basic science perspectives. Experience in
    computational aspects of neuroscience, genomics, biomedical engineering or a
    related discipline is encouraged. A record of funded, extramural research
    and of refereed publications in area of expertise is important. Experience
    in teaching and mentoring in masters and doctoral educational programs is
    preferred.
    Salaries for these positions are competitive and dependent upon
    qualifications and experience. These positions have 12 month appointments.
    Based on credentials, position can be tenured, tenure track or non-tenure
    track.
