After registering for this class, you can download and use Matlab on your personal computer with the University of Minnesota license. This allows you to work on your lab report at your own pace. 
To get the license number and activation key, go to https://wwws.cs.umn.edu/download_software/matlab
Log-in with your student account. Then you will see a button which says something like "Email me download instruction..." Click on that, and check your email. You will see license number and activation key.
Then go to https://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/whatsnew.html to download Matlab. At some point, you will be asked to create an account on Mathworks website. Just follow that instruction. You will be asked for the license number and activation key before, during and after the installation.
