       What happens to data when someone works on it.

·      Maintains versions

·      Packets of  information = project folder of documents, files and forms

·      logged out for changes by users with permission

·      looked at and copied by others with permission

·      Access can be at many levels

·      locked, intent to modify, modify with warnings, read only

 

 


Workflow Management

       Manage the flow of work between people

·      Packets make it easy to move work from department to department or individual to individual.

·      Project manager controls the progress of the project via “states”

·      States control who has the packets

·      Typical states are: Initiated, submitted, checked, approved, released

·      Packets can be appended with notes, instructions or comments, improving communication.
