David G. Ullman is an active product designer who has practiced, taught, researched and written about design for over twenty five years. He is a Professor of Mechanical Design at Oregon State University and is founder and current Vice-President for New Product Development for BikeE Corporation. He holds four patents. He has professionally designed fluid/thermal, control and transportation systems. He has published over twenty papers focused on understanding the product design process and the development of methods to support design teams in their effort to develop quality products on time and within cost. He is the author of The Mechanical Design Process, a text used at many universities to teach methods which support Current Best Practice in product development. He is founder of the American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME) - Design Theory and Methodology Committee and is a Fellow in the Society.
