- Title: Using a Structured Design Methodology for Designing a Securement
System for Mobility Aids on Public Buses
- A structured mechanical engineering design process methodology was used for
design of a universal mobility aid securement device. This electro-mechanical
device will be used to firmly hold mobility aids (wheelchairs, three-wheeled
scooters, and power bases) on public buses during normal transit route
operation or in case of a vehicle crash. This technology is licensed through the
Technology Transfer Office at Oregon State University and holds a U.S. Patent
(U.S. Patent #5,344,265).
