RADAR (Risk Assessment and Decision Analysis Research) group
Department of Computer Science, Queen Mary, University of London
Applicants are invited to join this active research group, with an
international reputation,
to work on the *application* of Bayesian Networks to decision support and
risk problems.
Three posts are available:
* Postdoctoral research assistant. The successful candidate will have
a PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline and be computer
literate. The post will involve the creation of Bayesian risk models
and the design of Bayesian risk tools.
* Postgraduate research assistant. The successful candidate will have
at least a 2(i) degree in a relevant quantitative or computing
discipline. The post will involve the design and implementation of
Bayesian risk tools using VB, C or Java.
* The studentship is for 3 years, funded at the standard Research
Council rate. Candidates should have or expect at least a 2(i) degree
in a relevant quantitative or computing discipline and a strong
interest in studying for a PhD.
One of the research assistant posts can be offered as a part-time
position over two years. The other research assistant post will be
full-time for two years.
For a suitably qualified candidate the postdoctoral salary will be up

London Allowance). For both posts there is also the opportunity to
significantly enhance this salary by doing related applied consultancy
work.
Successful candidates would primarily be engaged on the EPSRC funded
SCORE(Sensing Change in Operational Risk Exposure) project, but would
also contribute to the portfolio of other projects we are involved
in. For full details of our research projects please see:

research posts, these vacancies offer the potential for clear career
progression, which would suit somebody interested in applying
leading-edge research in industry.
Informal enquiries should be directed, by email initially to Dr Martin
