Message from the Chairman (Prof. N.Mastorakis): I have the pleasure to
welcome you for this symposium, in the most festiv and warm atmosphere of
the christmas Athens (Dec.29-30-31, 2001). This symposium will be a real
holiday for the members and friends of WSES and a real "holiday" of the
science of electrical and computer engineering and the science of applied
mathematics. A real holiday in the birthplace of Democracy, Science, Theater
and of course of Olympic Games (Athens will host Ol.Games of 2004) The first
symposium of this series was organized in the Hellenic Naval Academy in
March 1997, the second in Athens (Building of the Hellenic Association of
Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in July 1998). The first and the second
symposium had rather local character and limited participation. This year
with the sponsorship of WSES and IEEE, this symposium is being organized in
a really international basis! The conference will take place in a luxurious
hotel in the CONSTITUTION SQUARE (Syntagma Square) which is the "heart" of
the Christmas Athens and where all the cultural athenian activities for
Christmas and for the New Year will take place. Also, the conference place
will be in a walking distance from Parthenon, Acropolis, Archaeological
Museum, Byzantine Museam, War Museum, Greek Parliament, National Academy,
National Library, Old University and Polytechneion and all the other famous
monuments, not to mention the neighboring picturesque tavernas (with live
greek music and night attractions), traditional houses and shops of Plaka!
