    * 28th International Workshop on *
    * Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science *
    * (WG 2002) *
    * *
    * Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic *
    * June 13-15, 2002 *

    The WG 2002 workshop continues the series of 27 previous WG workshops. Since
    1975, WG took place twenty times in Germany, two times in Austria as well as in
    The Netherlands and once in Italy, in Slovakia and in Switzerland.
    WG 2002 will be held at Cesky Krumlov, a beautiful small town in South Bohemia,
    which is a part of the UNESCO list of the world cultural heritage.

    AIMS AND SCOPE

    The workshop aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how
    graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in Computer Science,
    or by extracting new problems from applications. The goal is to present recent
    research results and to identify and explore directions of future research.
    The workshop is well-balanced w.r.t. established researchers and young
    scientists. For many years now, the proceedings have been published in the
    LNCS series of Springer-Verlag. Accepted papers in final form will be due
    approximately one month after the workshop.

    Papers describing original results on all aspects of graph-theoretic concepts
    in Computer Science are solicited, e.g. papers on structural graph theory,
    sequential, parallel, and distributed graph and network algorithms and their
    complexity, graph grammars and graph rewriting systems, graph-based modeling,
    graph drawing and layout, diagram methods, and support of these concepts by
    suitable implementations. The scope of the workshop includes all applications
    of graph-theoretic concepts in Computer Science, including data structures,
    data bases, programming languages, tools for software construction,
    communications, computing on the web, mobile computing, concurrency, computer
    architectures, VLSI, artificial intelligence, graphics, CAD, operations
    research, and pattern recognition.

    IMPORTANT DATES

    *****************************************************************
    * *
    * Paper submission deadline: February 28, 2002 *
    * Notification of acceptance: April 19, 2002 *
    * Workshop: June 13 - 15, 2002 *

    *****************************************************************

    SUBMISSION

    Authors are invited to submit their papers electronically in
    PostScript format. Please send your paper as a PostScript file using
    regular EMAIL to

    *****************************************************************

    Hard-copy submissions are also allowed, but highly discouraged. Hard-copy
    of a submission must be RECEIVED BY ORGANIZERS not later than February 28, 2002.
    Electronic submission in some other formats (e.g. pdf, not MS-Word) could be
    accepted; however authors must discuss this possibility with organizers.

    Submitted papers should consist of a maximum of 10 pages with ample
    margins all around.

    The organizers will acknowledge the receipt of submitted papers. Please,
    keep in mind that e-mails can get lost - if you do not get a receipt by e-mail,
    please resend your submission.
    The program committee, supported by referees, will decide about accepting or
    rejecting submitted papers.

    Accepted papers are expected to be presented at the workshop.

    For many years now, the proceedings have been published in the LNCS series
    of Springer-Verlag. Accepted papers in final form will be due approximately
    one month after the workshop.

    SATELLITE

    A pre-WG satellite workshop will be held in Prague on June 10-11, 2002.
    The scope of the Prague satellite will be essentially the same as that of the
    Krumlov WG2002, but our aim is to organize a true workshop - a forum for
    presentation of approaches, goals and tools of research groups and/or
    individual researchers, reports on ongoing research, demonstration of software
    products, panels on important topics, problem sessions etc.

    Within the Prague satellite, two special tracks are envisaged:

    Applications: Reports on successful applications of the Graph Theory (there
    will be invited talks, further contribution are solicited, a panel discussion
    will conclude the track)

    Animation of algorithms: Animation of graph algorithms is perhaps the most
    vital part of the new field of graph animation; our understanding is that
    "animation" is not derived from "animal" (something that is moving, but
    perhaps) not thinking), but from "anima" (lat. = soul), and it should mean
    giving a soul to a graphical software product.

    TRANSPORTATION

    There will be a special conference bus for transfer from Prague to Krumlov on
    Wednesday, June 12, and back on Saturday, June 15.
