(A slightly off-topic or at least tangential post, but I thought I'd
share this one.)
Did anyone catch tonight's new episode of _The X-Files_ (9-13, the 6th
to last)? I don't watch it regularly any more, but this time the title,
IMPROBABLE, caught my eye:

As with the Spielberg/Kubrick film _AI_, the ways in which themes were
presented seemed a bit cliché. On the other hand, it's rare enough to
have causality, uncertainty, skewness, pattern recognition,
(non)determinism, and predestination touched upon in a single TV show.
Perhaps Burt Reynolds (or rather, Chris Carter) should be the next UAI
banquet speaker? :-)
