This course is intended for college students in all majors who are
interested in exploring AI, including how it works, why it works, and
when it works or does not work.
In this Unit, we provide a broad overview of AI, including its rich
history, diverse subfields, and two constrasting paradigms. This
overview also leads to the overall organization for the rest of this
course:
