When I first graduated from high school, I was the second in my family to graduate.
Both of my parents came from Mexico, where education is very important to grow further in the world.
This was when my cousin also graduated, and we both shared the party in celebration of our hard work!
This event is very special, as it not only brings an end to an amazing time in my life but also the beginning of a new journey.
When I first completed Computer Science 161, I still didn't know whether I really wanted to pursue computer science.
When I took Computer Science 162, I believe that is when I really fell for computer science. Our first assignment was to
create artwork! I remember wondering who to choose until I chose a character called Domo! After spending many hours on this assignment,
this was the final result, and to this day, it is still my favorite project ever.
Jogging has always been one of my favorite hobbies. I love to go on jogs and to stay active in general. The past couple months have
been very busy, and I haven't been able to get back into that rhythm of jogging every day at 7 a.m. Seeing these results really pushes me
to do better as a hobby and as a lifestyle as well. These results really show the improvement that I feel.
When my sister gave birth, this was during the pandemic, hence the reason why I am wearing a mask. We all had to be extra careful to make
sure she wasn't going to get sick, and none of us were able to see her for the first 3 weeks. Seeing her for the first time was such an
amazing event and something that I will never forget.
Shoes growing up, especially new shoes, were considered a luxury. My family would always shop at Goodwill or the Salvation Army for used clothes
that we and my siblings would wear. Going to school and seeing kids with new school clothes was something I envied, but shoes were always the biggest
thing for me. I just loved the idea of collecting so many versions of them; it almost reminded me of toys. It's a hobby of mine that I recently started
again, but it's quite an expensive hobby as well.
The event of my dog koko giving birth to her three new pups was something my whole family was excited about. My family has had Koko for the majority of her life.
When we found out she was going to have puppies, we always decided we would keep them. My parents especially made sure that this event wouldn't go unnoticed as they
spread the news all over Facebook to all of our family, celebrating her motherhood.
When my family and I visited the Polynesian Cultural Center in Maui, Hawaii, we were able to learn so much about Polynesian culture. Though, one specific topic that really
intrigued my brother and father was lifestyle and the deep meanings that they had within their dances, tattoos, symbols, and belief systems, I found them all unique and enjoyed
being able to talk with them. As well as being able to see how they hunted, lived, and traversed around in the ocean.
Growing up Catholic has always been something I was very proud of. Going to church every Sunday and actively being involved with the church. Though, my parents really wanted me to
grow closer and to continue through the ceremonies of becoming a Catholic, I, along with my brother, both attended many study sessions with many other kids to be able to receive our
first reconciliation. An event that truly pushed me toward a better lifestyle.
When I was first admitted to Oregon State University, I decided that I would instead go through the DPP route, which led me to my local community college. I then went there for 2 years,
and at the end of my final term, I was surprised to see that my transfer degree would also be my associate's degree! I had been waiting for it in the mail for months, and finally having it
with me just feels amazing. Showing this degree to my family was a momentous event that they celebrated with me, knowing I was one step closer to getting my B.S.
I am currently enrolled in CS 271, also known as "COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE & ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE". In this class, I was very confused at first, especially since there are very few codes in assembly
in our very fast-paced technological age. Though, when reading through many of the modules for this class, I was able to make my own example that helped me understand the fundamentals of what it's
like to code in assembly language, and not just that, I gained a lot of respect for those who could code professionally and how far we have come in the tech world.
