Dr. Moon received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Daejeon, South Korea, in 2005, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2016.
Dr. Moon was with Hynix Semiconductor Inc., Icheon, South Korea, from 2007 to 2011 as a Senior Research Engineer, where he was involved in designing analog, digital, and power circuits for DDR4 SDRAM. He was a postdoctoral associate at MIT from 2016 to 2017. He was with Maxim Integrated, North Chelmsford, MA, USA, from 2017 to 2018 as a Member of Technical Staff, where he was involved in high efficiency wide bandgap AC-DC converter projects.
His current research interests include modeling, design, analysis, and measurement of circuits and systems in the fields of power conversion, energy harvesting, electromagnetics, and renewable energy.
Dr. Moon received two grand prizes in the MIT Clean Energy Prize in 2014. He was also a recipient of the Kwanjeong Scholarship and the Hynix Strategic Patent Award. He holds 17 registered U.S. and international patents.

Chandika Kiriella joined MERGE as a Ph.D. student in Spring 2024. Chandika is working on device characterization circuits for wide bandgap devices and developing gate drive designs for electric motor drive systems.

Jianzhi Xu joined MERGE as a Ph.D. student in Spring 2024. Jianzhi is working on precision magnetic loss measurement, pico-Henry level low parasitic designs for power passive blocks, and innovative current sensor designs.

Dahyun Han joined MERGE as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2024. Dahyun is working on solid-state DC circuit breaker topologies for medium voltage applications.

Min Gao (Spring 2020 - Fall 2024) - Ph.D.

Min Gao received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering and automation from Wuhan University, Wuhan, Hubei, China, in 2019. She received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA. Min's research interests are focused on cascaded magnetics and energy harvesting. She won the scholarship of Wuhan University for three times from 2015 to 2018. Dr. Min Gao went to Analog Devices after the Ph.D. graduation.

Lifang Yi (Fall 2019 - Fall 2023) - Ph.D.

Lifang Yi received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China, in 2016 and 2019, respectively. She obtained the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA in December 2023. Her research interests include precise in-situ magnetic loss measurement and capacitive wireless power transfer technology. Dr. Lifang Yi went to Apple after the Ph.D. graduation.

Xiaofeng Dong received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China, in 2016 and 2019, respectively. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, USA in December 2023. His research interests includes high-power PV inverters, WBG device applications, and fault management strategies in DC-AC system. Dr. Xiaofeng Dong went to Tesla after the Ph.D. graduation.

Diego Campos is from Panama city, Panama. He graduated in Spring 2020 as a bachelor in electrical engineering from FSU. He worked on dynamic insertion impedance control using saturable magnetics during M.S. Diego Campos went to Schlumberger after the M.S. graduation.
