About this Database:
The “Fragua Course” is a 10-week program that is hosted by the OSU Newman Center fall and winter terms of each academic year here at Oregon State University. At the course, attendees (who are students) come once a week every Tuesday night from 6:30-8pm to have a free dinner, listen to a talk, and then discuss what they thought about the talk with their small groups/tables. The course is aimed at current OSU students and everyone is welcome to come. There are approximately 10 tables to sit at, with about 7 seats per table, but this may vary depending on how many tables and chairs are available.
The Fragua course is usually held at the MU Basement (where the bowling is located.) We would like to keep track of how many and which students attend on which days and what table they sat at. For example, if a student sits at table 3 for a few weeks in a row, they start to get to know people and make new friends - and we would like to keep them together if at all possible - so that is why we incorporated a way to keep track of what week number each student sat at which table. There is typically an influx of new students who start attending mid-course and various students who stop attending mid-course, sometimes leaving tables too empty or too full, so that is why it is important to keep track of number of seats currently available. There are also table leaders, who are students who have been though the course in the past year or so and are now essentially volunteers helping the new students (the attendees) get the conversation going during the small group discussions. In addition, there are staff members who host the talks, serve the food, and provide music for the course. Attendee, Table, Table Leader, and Staff. How to use this Database:
