Our long range goal is to implement the Product Delivery Process within all functions on all product programs throughout D&M.
To reach this goal, and accommodate both resource limitations and differences in the maturity of product programs, PDP will be implemented in stages. Currently all product programs are implementing the Management Decision Process. As PDP has been developed, we have piloted the available process elements, systems and training on several upstream product programs. Following the pilot programs, the current plan is to implement the process on designated programs on a full or partial basis depending on program maturity and readiness to implement PDP.
Our goal is to eventually implement the process on all new and variant product programs. Our first step is to work with senior management to waterfall PDP information using an approach similar to that used to implement Leadership Through Quality. All major D&M sites will conduct PDP awareness communication sessions. Then designated product programs will receive full PDP support activities which include:
Implementation on a partial basis with current product programs will include using the appropriate pieces of PDP based on program maturity and need. In addition, ongoing development, testing, revision and selective customization plans continue for maintaining an "evergreen" PDP by establishing a D&M program archive which will also capture program experience from "lessons learned" program feedback sessions.
