7/18/2021 Our papers on (1) 3D asymmetric tensor field topology and (2) hypergraph visualization have been finally accepted and will be presented at the IEEE Visualization Conference 2021.

6/14/2021 Two papers from our research group have been conditionally accepted by the IEEE Visualization Conference 2021, including 3D asymmetric tensor field topology and hypergraph visualization.

4/14/2021 Eugene gave a talk at the SCI Institute of University of Utah (virtually) on the topological analysis and visualization of 3D symmetric tensor fields.

3/18/2021 Eugene gave a talk at the Visualization Department of Texas A&M (virtually) on the topological analysis and design of 3D symmetric tensor fields.

2/28/2021 The book titled "Anisotropy Across Fields and Scale" is now published. Eugene was a co-editor of this book, and our research group contributed to a chapter that enumerates all the possible bifurcations in a 3D linear tensor field.

12/31/2020 The book titled "Topological Mehtods in Data Analysis and Visualization V" is now published. This book contains a chapter from our research group on finding the maximum number of transition points in a 3D linear tensor field.

10/20/2020 Today, Botong presented our paper on robust mode surface extraction from 3D symmtric tensor fields at the IEEE Visualization Conference 2020.

8/6/2020 Our paper on robust mode surface extraction from 3D symmtric tensor fields has been officially accepted and will appear at the IEEE Visualization Conference 2020.

7/6/2020 Our paper on robust mode surface extraction from 3D symmtric tensor fields is now conditionally accepted pending revision.

6/17/2020 Our paper on tensor field bifurcation is now finally accepted and will appear in a Springer book later this year.

4/20/2020 Our video and demo paper on eyetracking for virtual board games has been accepted by ETRA 2020.

7/9/2019 Today I visited Institute of Science and Technology of Austria and discussed research ideas with my hosts. I also gave a talk on 3D tensor field topology (extraction and design).

7/8/2019 Our paper on multi-scale asymmetric tensor field analysis has been accepted by and will be presented at the IEEE Vis conference.

7/4/2019 I visited Technical University of Munich, Germany today and gave a talk on 3D tensor field topology (extraction and design). The talk led to interesting discussions and potential collaboration opportunities.

6/6/2019 Our paper on multi-scale asymmetric tensor field analysis has been conditionally accepted by the IEEE Vis conference.

5/24/2019 I have just returned from the Dastuhl seminar on topology. I have presented our work on the interactive design and visualization of branched covering spaces. The talk was well received.

2/5/2019 Our paper on the number of transition points in a 3D linear tensor field has been acceped to be published at the upcoming Visualization series as a book chapter.

12/10/2018 I gave a talk on the visualization branched covering spaces at University of Stuttgart. A number of interesting discussions ensued.

11/4/2018 I just returned from the Dagstuhl seminar on tensor fields, which I co-organized. It was an exciting exchange of ideas with world experts in the area. I also presented our work on the design of 3D symmetric tensor fields.

10/25/2018 Our paper on robust extraction of 3D tensor field topology was presented at VIS 2018 in Berlin. It was well received.

8/15/2018 I attended SIGGRAPH 2018 in Vancouver and chair the session "Fields and Remeshing".

7/25/2018 I presented 3D tensor field design at World Congress on Computatoinal Mechanics 2018.

7/12/2018 I presented tensor field visualization at the NSF-sponsored workshop on seafloor sensor/instruments.

7/11/2018 Our paper on robust and fast extraction of 3D symmetric tensor field topology has been finally accepted by IEEE Vis 2018 for presentation in Berlin.

5/7/2018 Dr. I-Chen Li from Taiwan National Chiao-Tung University visited us today and talked about his work on image vectorization.

11/29/2017 Our paper on robot exploration of indoor scenes with tensor fields was presented at SIGGRAPH ASIA 2017 today in Bangkok, Thailand.

11/28/2017 I presnted our paper on the design of 3D symmetric tensor fields in volumes at SIGGRAPH ASIA 2017 today in Bangkok, Thailand.

10/24/2017 Lawrence and I presnted our paper on the visualization of branched covering spaces at the IEEE Visualization Conference 2017 today in Pheonix, Arizona.

8/18/2017 Our research paper on N-ary relationship visualization has been accepted by SIGGRAPH ASIA 2017 Symposium on Visualization.

8/6/2017 Our research on simulation and visualization has been featured by NSF (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). It is also featured by NSF Science video. This research is also featured by HPC.

7/30/2017 Two of our papers have been conditionally accepted by SIGGRAPH ASIA 2017. The first one features volumetric tensor field design with application in solid texture and geometry element synthesis. The second one makes use 2D tensor field topology in path planning. More details will follow.

7/25/2017 Dr. Chi-Han Peng from KAUST visits us today and will talk about research on mesh connectivity editing.

7/24/2017 Dr. Yu-Chi Lai from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology visits us today and will talk about research conducted by his research group.

7/21/2017 My student Prashant Kumar successfully passed his preliminary exam and is one last step away from receiving a Ph.D.

7/12/2017 I gave a talk on asymmetric tensor field analysis with applications in vector field visualization, fluid dynamics, and earthquake engineering. The talk is part of the minisymposium at the SIAM Applied Geometry Conference.

7/11/2017 Our paper on the design and visualization of branched covering spaces has been accepted by IEEE Visualization conference 2017. This is one of the first math visualization papers that I worked on.

7/1/2017 Our team building proposal has been awarded by the OSHU/OSU cancer seed funds. We will work with Professors Joe Gray and Wei Huang on using visualization and simualation to improve cancer treatment.

6/29/2017 My student Botong Qu successfully passed his preliminary exam and is one last step away from receiving a Ph.D.

6/22/2017 We welcome our high school interns: Jessie Li, Sheena Huang, Pragyna Naik, and Aldo Magana. They will be spending eight weeks with us learning programming and research in computer graphics and visualization.

Data sets: We have made available solid mechanics data and material science data that we used for testing our 3D tensor field visualization algorithms.
